HMRC to target restaurants in London
The HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) announced last week that it would be setting up a series of special units to track down tax evaders from the restaurant sector in London.
This new plan involves getting a team skilledĀ in a particular sector and then hitting that sector en masse, imposing high penalties and conducting prosecutions.
The move to restaurants follows a similar recent campaign to persuade plumbers to come clean about their tax affairs.
The restaurant trade in Scotland and the North West will be the next areas targeted.
