Dragons’ Den replacement sends a strong message to business

Popular entrepreneur show, Dragons’ Den, has announced that Hilary Devey, an entrepreneur and award-winning business woman, is to replace James Caan, when the new series starts on BBC 2 later in 2011. This will mean the Dragons consist of two women and three men for the first time in the show’s history.

Hilary Devey is no stranger to one of Inspira’s flourishing clients Gary Martin from Zap Events. He appeared with Hilary in her series ‘The Business Inspector’, on Channel 5. Having launched her own pallet distribution company Pall-Ex in 1996 – a business model which not only revolutionised the industry, but became a standard way of working.  The company is now a multi-million pound European business empire.

Hilary said: “At a time when the banks are failing to invest in British small businesses, I am proud to be able to do my part to support the next generation of UK entrepreneurs. In order to set-up Pall-Ex in the mid-Nineties, I had to sell my house and car to get the start-up capital necessary to fulfil my business ambitions, as none of the banks appreciated my potential. I would have loved the opportunity to have stood before the Dragons, and I will remember my own experiences and the realities of running a business today, when choosing to support – or reject – the budding entrepreneurs joining me in the Den.”
