Royal Parks Foundation
Laying the foundations of effective HR strategy for the Royal Parks Foundation
The Royal Parks Foundation is a registered charity established in 2003 to help support and conserve London’s eight Royal Parks for everyone to enjoy, now and in the future. Since its launch, the Foundation, whose patron is HRH The Prince of Wales, has raised more than £12 million for the benefit of the Parks, their wildlife and heritage and the 77million people who visit each year.
Sara Lom, Chief Executive, Royal Parks Foundation, met Sue Higgins, Founder and Managing Director of Inspira, through the ‘Your Business Your Future’ programme. The programme is run by Cass Business School, part of City University London, where Sue provides expert business coaching and mentoring.
Following completion of the programme, Sara and her management team realised they needed some additional HR support to put together a ‘Team Handbook.’
Sue conducted a full HR policy audit that included: reviewing existing policies and procedures; updating key policies where required (such as rights to maternity leave); legal compliance checking and developing a formalised induction process for new members of the teaming including volunteers.
The outcome was a comprehensive, user-friendly, centralised HR manual, tailored specifically to the Foundation and made easily accessible to all employees.
Sara Lom says: “This was a long overdue project for us. We were impressed with Sue’s ability to get straight to the heart of the matter and her in-depth understanding of the specific needs of our organisation. The whole task was well-executed and we now have a centralised communication tool. The HR manual has made a huge difference to our organisation.” Royal Parks Foundation
